New Arch Bridges Website Launched

Photo: Tarbox Stone Arch, 2007 rj

A new website oldohiobridges.com/arch featuring concrete and stone arch bridges in Ohio was launched last month. The website includes bridges that are on the National Register, or rated as select or reserve status. These include the oldest bridges in use in Ohio. The pictured bridge is an example of the type of bridge documented. It was built in 1867 and carries Tarbox-Cemetery Road over Massie Creek in Greene County.

The 10 Most Beautiful Bridges in the World

Neatorama (click) took it upon themselves to do the ratings. So for what its worth the Thomas Malone Bridge in Beaver Creek State Park, Ohio tied for number 6 (sort of).

You'll have to read the article to see what was number 1. Can you guess?

There are some truly beautiful bridges from all over the world on this list including a spectacular covered bridge from China at number 4. Come to our next OHBA meeting to hear a presentation about Chinese Covered Bridges.

How about emailing (click) a Thomas Malone CB picture to us. I'll put them in the comments!
