Skull Fork CB is Being Replaced

Miriam Wood reports that Harrison County's last CB, the Skull Fork Bridge is now being replaced by a new MKP truss bridge. The old bridge was being dismantled for renovation when it collapsed into the creek. Not much good timber there, so an all new structure is going up and should be done by 12/15. Trusses are almost all done and top chords are being worked on now.

Interesting "Covered Bridge"

The Columbus Dispatch had a story of a new Ritz-Carlton property at Lake Las Vegas that pictured an extraordinary "modern" covered bridge. See it here!

Blue Rock Road Bridge Demolished 10/11/2006

Photo: Jonathan Maxwell

The Blue Rock Road Bridge (Singing Bridge) over the Great Miami River in New Baltimore, Hamilton County was built following the great floods of 1913. The bridge has been closed since a replacement was opened just up stream in 2001. I was at the site in June and took the upper picture when the bridge was still an impressive structure. It was demolished last week! Jonathan Maxwell supplied the lower picture taken right after its destruction. I suspect it was regarded as a safety hazard.
