Pssst ... Looking for a Bridge? Cheap!

The Brooklyn Bridge is not available but ODOT maintains a list of Ohio bridges being removed and available for reuse. The pictured bridge is just one of three old bridges in Crawford County being offered. Visit their website here for more information.

This program offers a viable alternative to new construction especially for the light traffic of bikeways and trails. Building a new bridge makes little sense when an historic bridge can usually be reused for less cost while preserviing history and providing a "green" alternative to expending new resources. There are several Ohio companies very experienced with this type of historic bridge restoration and OHBA has access to experts to help plan such projects. See past articles for some preservation examples.
